Adam Cummins 38

Luke Watt 10

A splendid free kick from Luke Watt made it three games unbeaten as the Diamonds earned a precious point at the national stadium.

The home side required to make a change to their original starting line up after Scott Gibson was injured in the warm-up with Ciaran Summers taking his place in the side.

Queen's Park had a great opportunity to take the lead after five minutes when a penalty was awarded for a Kieran MacDonald challenge on David Galt.

Rohan Ferguson read Luke Donnelly’s spot kick diving to right to push the ball away.

Five minutes later a Jake Hastie burst down the left was blocked by Adam Cummins and from the resultant free kick Luke Watt curled the ball around the wall and into the net to give the DIamonds the opening goal.

William Mortimer’s 14th minute 20-yard shot was deflected for a corner, while Galt’s delivery was met by Cummins who headed the ball wide of the Airdrie goal.

As play began to get drawn into a midfield battle little was being created around either goal.

In 35 minutes Airdrie should have had a penalty when Scott Stewart was barged in the back as he raced in for Kieran MacDonald’s cross from the left.

Queens levelled seven minutes from the break. Once again after winning a corner on the right Galt's cross was met by centre back Cummins and this time his header ended up the corner of the net.

The second half was barely a minute old when Willis Furtado’s run and cross was just beyond Hastie who had raced to try and meet the cross at the back post.

Moments later Furtado raced in to the penalty box then fired in an angled shot which was netbound only for Michael White to make a decent save and turn the ball away for a corner.

Spells of Queens pressure followed, but their attacks came to nothing due to a lack of invention around the Airdrie penalty box.

Furtado clipped a free kick over Queens' goal after a poor Sean Burns tackle on substitute Tom Fry in 70 minutes.

In 73 minutes Dean Cairns met Fry’s delivery from a corner but keeper Michael White collected the ball low on his line.

Three minutes remained when the home side threatened through a Galt free kick from the left though substitute Dominic Docherty knocked the ball wife of the goal.

Airdrie took the game to their hosts in the final minutes only to lack a finishing touch and in the end left Hampden with a point.
