It was a frustrating finish for Airdrie at New Broomfield on Saturday after Hamilton Accies snatched a point in the fifth minute of injury-time.
Jamie Bain's wonder strike looked to have earned the Diamonds victory but the visitors went straight up the pitch and plundered an equaliser through Stevie May.
Boss Jimmy Boyle handed starts to keeper Robbie Thomson and striker Jordan Moore who have been signed on loan from Celtic and Dundee United, respectively.
Airdrie were inches away from a confidence-boosting third-minute opener when midfielder Bain's vicious strike crashed off the bar with keeper Kevin Cuthbert beaten.
There was more woodwork woe for the home side in the 16th minute with Moore's left-foot shot from just inside the box bouncing off the bar.
It was Hamilton's turn to be denied by the frame of the goal five minutes later with on-loan St Johnstone striker May thwarted by the post.
Midfielder Ali Crawford's deliveries from set-pieces for the visitors were excellent and causing the Airdrie defence all sorts of problems towards the end of the first half.
In the 35th minute, Thomson came and failed to reach one of his corner-kicks with the ball falling to May but he had his prodded effort ushered off the line by Steven Hetherington.
Accies took the lead in the 61st minute. A quick passing move ended with Gary Fisher finding May who fired a low shot into the corner of the net.
But the hosts were level in next to no time. Referee David Somers ruled that Alex Neil had brought down Bain in the box with Moore converting from the spot.
Airdrie went in front in the fourth minute of injury-time when Bain blasted a terrific shot past Cuthbert after Nathan Blockley had guided the ball into his path.
A first home win since August? Unfortunately not. Accies rallied and levelled through May after Thomson had blocked Darian MacKinnon's shot. Airdrie are now five points adrift of safety.
