THAT WINNING FEELING
There’s been no denying that the beginning of the season was very difficult, but after starting the month of September with a disappointing defeat at Palmerston, the management and players haven’t looked back.

League wins over Alloa Athletic and Peterhead, alongside three positive KDM Evolution Trophy results – a narrow victory over St Mirren B and somewhat more comfortable wins against Bonnyrigg Rose and Berwick Rangers – have lifted the mood around the Albert Bartlett Stadium considerably.

Our upturn in form has come thanks in no small part to your support from the stands – we know that with seven games in August and six in September it has been a busy (not to mention expensive) start to the season, and everyone at the club appreciates your continued backing.

Another gruelling month awaits with six fixtures in October, including our final KDM Evolution Trophy group phase fixture against Heart of Midlothian B. Three points would secure a top six finish and see us seeded for the first knockout round, so let’s roar the boys on to another big result.

We win together – let’s keep winning and see where it takes us.

GOLF DAY
On Monday, August 31 we held our first ever Airdrieonians Golf Day. 19 teams fought hard and competed well at Airdrie Golf Club, to launch our new partnership with the historic local institution. Each team featured a member of the current Airdrie squad or management team or a former Diamonds player, while the non-golfing members of the squad turned up to give their encouragement. Our thanks go to Andy Smith, Jim Lister, Tom Black, Des McKeown and Alan Lawrence for taking part.

After some excellent scores all round, the team from Airdrie Golf Club came out victorious – closely followed by Steven Brown School of Motoring and Lusona Consultancy.

INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL AT THE ALBERT BARTLETT
As well as four Airdrieonians fixtures, the Albert Bartlett Stadium will also host international football again in October, with UEFA Women’s U17 matches taking place at the ground.

Scotland, Ukraine, Finland and Romania are all involved as we host three fixtures – keep your eyes peeled for further details!

GROW THE FANBASE
We launched our Grow the Fanbase campaign with a visit to nearby Tollbrae Primary School and St Edwards Primary School, and the staff and pupils couldn’t have been more welcoming. Cole McKinnon, Liam McLeish, Jamie Sneddon and Robbie Mahon answered questions and signed autographs for the youngsters at both schools, and we’re sure we’ve gained a few new fans from the exercise.

Both schools, along with 36 other schools and organisations in Airdrie and the local area, have been offered free parent & child tickets for all four of our home games in October. Interest has been high, so we hope to see a lot of new faces in the stands throughout the month!

AND FINALLY
We agreed a loan deal of a different kind this month as Director of Football Alan Gow represents Rangers at the upcoming Tennents Sixes tournament.

Alan has joined in a couple of first-team training sessions to get in shape for the event, which takes place at Braehead Arena on October 3 and 4, and still has the magic touch which made him such a hit with fans during his playing days at Airdrie, Rangers and one or two other clubs!
