Whirlwind start for new boy Gentles

We were pleased to complete the loan signing of striker Josh Gentles hours before kick-off today, with the striker able to make his Diamonds debut as a second-half substitute against East Fife.

A Welsh youth international who has represented the Dragons up to U19 level, Josh has been at Ibrox since 2023 and has spent time on loan at Raith Rovers and Alloa Athletic.

Now joining Rangers team-mate Callum Burnside at the Albert Bartlett, Josh was pleased to be handed another chance at first-team football.

He said: “I’ve obviously come into the dressing room knowing a few familiar faces, and the lads were very good with me today, so it should be a great experience.

“I play upfront or off as a 10, or wide left – anywhere in that little area. I try to link the game, I’m technically quite good, and I’ll be running in behind and scoring goals hopefully!

“It’s probably my main strength in my game – I can score from distance as well, so I can vary that side of my game up.”

And head coach John Rankin was delighted to bring in a player he rates very highly.

“Josh has got great quality, he’s one that we’ve been speaking about for a while now.

“He’s had plenty of suitors in this window, but we’ve been fortunate enough that he’s decided to come to us.

“He gives us an attacking option, a striker that we’ve been crying out for, and again we’ve had fantastic backing to be able to bring him in.”

Welcome to the Diamonds, Josh!
