We are pleased to announce the signing of English defender Kwame Boateng, who joins the club subject to SFA and International Clearance after leaving Cleethorpes Town.

Londoner Kwame, who plays as a right-side full-back or centre-back, began his career at Bradford City before moving around the English lower leagues, spending time with the likes of Harrogate Town, Sheffield Wednesday, and Welsh side The New Saints.

Having shown his calm defensive attributes and strength in pre-season, the 27-year-old was pleased to finally get a deal done.

He told airdriefc.com: “I’m buzzing to be here, it’s a great club and all the lads have been really welcoming.

“I’m looking forward to working with the gaffer – I can’t wait to get started!”

And head coach John Rankin added: “I’m happy to get Kwame on board. Alan identified him during the close season and invited him in for us to have a look during pre-season.

“He stood out in the way he played and the commitment he showed, and he’s settled into the group quickly.

“He’s had to be a little bit patient over the last few days so we could get it over the line, but we’re delighted to finally welcome him to the club.”
