We are delighted to announce the signing of versatile attacker Zac Butterworth, who joins the club subject to SFA approval.

Former Rangers youngster Zac has featured for Cowdenbeath and Caledonian Braves since leaving Ibrox, and spent time on loan at Edinburgh City and Clyde while with the Glasgow club.

A pacey winger who can play on either side and is also comfortable through the middle, 25-year-old Zac showed his ability as a trialist in recent friendly matches, and was pleased to make the move permanent.

He told airdriefc.com: “I’m delighted to be here and get the deal done.

“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead – it’s a great group of lads and hopefully we can get the club back to the Championship.

“I can’t wait to get started and play in front of the fans!”

And head coach John Rankin was pleased to increase his attacking options. He said: “We’re delighted that Zac has committed his future to the club.

“He’s had a good education in football and works to a high standard every day. He’s been in with us for a few weeks, and in that time proved extremely versatile on the pitch, and that can be invaluable for us over the season.”
