Diamond Dom checks in

We are delighted to announce the signing of forward Dom Thomas, who joins the Diamonds following his release from Ayr United.

Versatile frontman Thomas can play across the midfield and forward positions, and brings a wealth of Scottish football experience to the club.

The 29-year-old joined Ayr from Derry City in the summer, having previously featured for Motherwell, Kilmarnock, Dunfermline Athletic and Queen’s Park, as well as loan spells with Queen of the South and Dumbarton.

A creative player with an eye for goal, Dom also featured for Scotland at U21 level earlier in his career.

Signing on at the Albert Bartlett, he told airdriefc.com: “I’m looking forward to getting started and hitting the ground running. I think it’s a great team that we’ve already got with some great players, so hopefully I can help that a bit and really give them a good end to the season.

“The team play a really good way that suits my game, so I think it could work well – hopefully we can finish the season really strongly.

“Closer to the goal you’re always better at creating and scoring goals, and I think that’s somewhere I can help the team. Coming through I always played in the wide areas, but in recent times playing through the middle or supporting the strikers is where I’ve found my best form.”

Head coach Aaron Taylor-Sinclair added: “We’re delighted to bring Dom to the club. He’s a proven performer at this level with real quality in the final third.

“I think he’s a player who can make a big impact for us going forward.”

Welcome to the Diamonds, Dom!
