Forward Mahon is a Diamond

We are delighted to announce the signing of Irish forward Robbie Mahon, who joins from Edinburgh City for an undisclosed fee subject to SFA clearance.

Dubliner Mahon can play in a variety of attacking positions, and is familiar with various levels of Scottish football having featured for Motherwell, Dunfermline Athletic, and Edinburgh City, as well as Bohemians and Dundalk in his home country and Loughgall in Northern Ireland.

The 22-year-old bagged 12 goals in the first half of the season at Meadowbank, including a hat-trick against Elgin City which helped him win the SPFL League 2 Player of the Month award for August.

Putting pen to paper at The Albert Bartlett Stadium today, Robbie told airdriefc.com: “I’m absolutely delighted to be here.

“I spoke with the gaffer during the week and was very impressed with what he had to say. The facilities around the place are top quality, and I’m just really looking forward to getting out there and playing.”

And head coach Aaron Taylor-Sinclair was pleased to make his first signing as Airdrie boss.

“We’re delighted to bring Robbie to the club. He’s a player who brings great intensity, technical ability, and a strong work ethic.

“He’s hungry to improve, and he’ll add real competition to the group which is exactly what we want.”

Welcome to the Diamonds, Robbie!
