Diamonds loan for keeper Stone
We are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Harry Stone, who joins on loan from Premiership side Heart of Midlothian until the end of the season.
The 6ft 3in stopper is no stranger to the Championship, having spent last season on loan at Ayr United after similar spells at Queen of the South, Albion Rovers, Partick Thistle and Spartans.
Having also been involved with Scotland at U16, U17 and U21 level, the 23-year-old brings good pedigree and experience for his relatively young age.
After joining in with training earlier this week, Harry told airdriefc.com: “I was here last year and I’ve been here plenty of times before, I know the club and I’m excited to be here.
“I know a couple of the boys in the changing room and from Ayr last year, and they were telling me all about it – it’s an attractive style of play and I’m looking forward to being part of it.”
And goalkeeping coach David Hutton added: “Harry’s trained with top goalkeepers at Hearts, and he’s played at this level before so he’ll have no problem integrating into the squad.
“He’s a good all-round goalkeeper who will bring a commanding presence to the backline. He’s already fitting in well, so we’re looking forward to working with him for the rest of the season.”
Our thanks go to Shelley Kerr and everyone at Heart of Midlothian for their assistance in facilitating the deal for Harry, who goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s match against Raith Rovers.
Meanwhile Matty Connelly has returned to Motherwell on a permanent basis. Matty made 11 appearances for the Diamonds before being recalled in October.
We thank Matty for his efforts and wish him all the very best with his future career. Our thanks also go to Brian Caldwell and Neil Alexander at Motherwell for their assistance throughout.
