Airdrieonians FC are proud to back Airdrie Action Partnership (AAP) as they launch their Christmas appeal with the aim of making sure every child in the local area gets a Christmas present.

Airdrie Action Partnership, the winners of the North Lanarkshire 2023 Provost Award for Excellence, is made up of various community groups, third sector organisations, charities, and council services. The group engages through monthly meetings with the intention of generating projects that work to address the priorities identified by the wider community. North Lanarkshire Council carried out a robust consultation exercise and it was highlighted that the three main priorities endorsed for this within Airdrie are:

• Poverty
• Mental Health and Emotional wellbeing
• Digital Inclusion

With these priorities AAP’s objective is to promote the benefit of Airdrie inhabitants and villages by associating the local statutory authorities, voluntary and community groups, and partner organisations in a common effort for the advancement of the Airdrie people by providing services and supports or to assist in the provision of services and supports, to promote the health and wellbeing and improve the conditions of life of those living in Airdrie.

With this in mind AAP supported 310 local families and 692 local children during the Christmas Appeal 2024, and it is hoped this year AAP will provide this much needed support again through the continued generosity of local people and our partners.

AAP, represented by Chair Iain Jamieson and members of Airdrie Community School Uniform Bank, NHS Lanarkshire (Health Improvement), Bear Necessities, Latch on Lanarkshire, Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire Council Community Partnership Team, Airdrie Health Visiting Team, Nationwide, Whinhall Action Group, NLC CLD team, Chapelhall Community Development Group, XACT/Airdrie, and Coatbridge 41 Club, local school children volunteering to gain their Saltire Award visited The Albert Bartlett Stadium this week to meet staff and players as the club lend their backing to this fantastic initiative.

To donate please bring a new toy along to any Airdrieonians Home game in November and drop off to Iain Jamieson, based in the Presidents Suite, who will gladly accept the toys on behalf of AAP. Toys can also be handed in to the Salvation Army Hall, 30 Hallcraig Street, Airdrie ML6 6AH from Monday 1st December to 16th December during normal working hours.
