Academy star Chisholm steps up
Defender Mason Chisholm has penned his first senior contract with the club, stepping up after consistently impressing in the academy and making some eye-catching first-team appearances in pre-season.
The 18-year-old centre-back has one competitive appearance to his name having come on as a substitute against Bonnyrigg Rose in this season’s Premier Sports Cup, and also featured in the friendly matches against Penybont, Albion Rovers, and St Mirren.
Mason comes from good stock, being the grandson of well-known former player and manager Gordon Chisholm – who also had a spell as assistant manager at Airdrie.
Joining up with the senior squad on a permanent basis, Mason told airdriefc.com: “I’m delighted to sign my first full-time contract, and I can’t wait to get started.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time with the first-team so far, and I know this is a great opportunity for me.”
And manager Danny Lennon added: “We’re very pleased to get young Mason tied up, and we know we can work with him to fulfil his full potential.
“We see great strengths in him, and he’s got a lovely manner about him too. He does remind me of his grandfather, who I had the pleasure of playing with.
“If he’s half the player his papa was, we’re onto a winner!”
