Club update
As we prepare to head into season 2025/26, we would like to provide an update on various changes within the club.
We are delighted to announce that three members of the club’s staff, Iain Allison (Operational), Stuart Mathie (Head of Media) and Neil Pardoe (Head of Technical) are now also taking on Associate Directorships. The trio of lifelong Airdrie supporters bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the roles, and we’re pleased to have them on board.
Brian Smith was appointed club secretary last season and provided excellent support to the players and management team in his new role. Brian will continue in that capacity for the season ahead.
Staying behind the scenes, we are happy to officially welcome Arran Ewart to the media team. Arran’s skills allow him to cover a number of roles, and he has already proven to be a valuable addition to the team. Arran will work closely with Andrew Duffy, who has been appointed Chief Media Officer after several years at the club providing excellent club focused interviews and match commentary to the Airdrie fanbase.
Our medical department has also seen changes over the summer, with physio Ben Richardson moving on with our thanks and best wishes. Stewart Duff takes over as Head Physio, assisted by Sports Scientists Pete Byrne and Dan Jefferson. Having worked with Stewart and his team in the past, we are well aware of their first-class expertise, and we are delighted to be able to bring them in on a permanent basis.
The new medical team are already making positive progress with our currently sidelined players. Lewis Strapp underwent shoulder surgery during the close season and is working toward his recovery, as are several other players as detailed by manager Rhys McCabe in his recent interview. Further updates will follow in due course.
On another matter, our working relationship with Consilium Sports Group has come to an end. We are grateful for the assistance and support provided in recent times and wish them well for the future.
Elsewhere on the playing front, Aidan Wilson has been appointed club captain, with Dean McMaster taking on the vice-captaincy role. Both players have demonstrated considerable influence in the dressing room and will excel in the roles.
The management team continue to consider potential additions to the squad, and updates will be provided when deals are completed. Meanwhile, we can confirm that defender Flynn Duffy has now left the club, and we wish him well with his future career.
As always, we are thankful for all the support we receive both on the commercial front and through the turnstiles.
We welcomed some new sponsors on board ahead of the launch of our third kit in May, and again we thank them for their support. Our existing sponsors have once again stepped up and shown great loyalty to the club, and it is very much appreciated by everyone.
An open training session will take place at the stadium on Thursday, July 17 from 11:00am. With our younger supporters on holiday from school, Rhys and the squad thought this was a great opportunity to come along and see how the players prepare for the next big match – and as always there will be plenty of opportunities for autographs and selfies after the session!
The support from the stands last season was as encouraging as ever, particularly in the face of such a difficult season for the club. We can’t wait to welcome you back to The Albert Bartlett Stadium for another competitive season – the players and management need your backing, and they appreciate your support as that all-important “twelfth man”.
C’mon the Diamonds!
