Midfielder Barjonas checks in
We are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Jamie Barjonas, subject to SFA approval.
The Leeds-born former Rangers youth represented Scotland at various age groups as he came up through the ranks at Ibrox, spending time on loan with Bury, Raith Rovers, Partick Thistle and Ayr United while also making nine top-team appearances for the Glasgow side.
A move to Kelty Hearts followed, with Barjonas securing a League 2 Championship medal and a place in the Team of the Year before spending last season with Hamilton Academical.
Coming from a family of Airdrieonians supporters, the 26-year-old was pleased to sign up at the Albert Bartlett Stadium.
He told airdriefc.com: “From the outside looking in at Airdrie as a football club, it looks like a really well-run club.
“I’m buzzing to be here – I’ve spoken to the manager and I think that he’s got a real passion and a real vision for the game, so I’m delighted to be here.
“It’s a great squad we’ve got here, with a great manager and great staff, so I’m just really looking forward to the season getting underway.”
Manager Rhys McCabe added: "Jamie is a player who has great ability. He's strong on the ball and clever.
"His quick and positive play will add a different dimension to our midfield and attacking areas."
Welcome to the Diamonds, Jamie!
