Lewis Strapp has extended his time at Airdrie after scoring the goal which secured Championship football for the Diamonds.

Joining from Finnish side Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho in January, popular defender Strapp made 17 appearances as the Diamonds turned their form around in the second half of the season – despite suffering two freak injuries.

And his first goal for the club was worth its weight in gold as it turned out to be the winner in the Championship play-off tie against Cove Rangers.

The 25-year-old was keen to extend his stay at the Albert Bartlett Stadium after enjoying his first five months with the club.

“It’s been great since I came, I settled in very quickly with the boys and I’ve been enjoying the style of play!

“We had a strong end to the season just finished, and hopefully we can build on that going into next season.

“Personally, I want to get as many games under my belt and build up as many minutes as possible.”
