Ross is first summer signing
We are delighted to announce that defender Craig Ross has agreed terms on a deal to join the club, and will become an Airdrie player on expiry of his Stranraer contract subject to SFA clearance.
22-year-old central defender Ross has enjoyed four successful years with the Stair Park side since leaving Kilmarnock’s youth setup, and capped his time at the club with an outstanding season in which he notched up his 150th appearance, was named in the League 2 Team of the Year, and scooped no fewer than seven trophies at the Stranraer End of Season awards.
As he put pen to paper on a deal with the Diamonds, Ross was looking forward to stepping up to the Championship.
“I got in contact with the club and manager at the start of the year, and when I was told about the club’s visions and goals it was something i was desperate to be a part of.
“I’m hoping to be part of a winning team who are challenging at the right end of the table, and with the quality that’s here already and the backroom team, it’s something i believe is very much possible – I’m just buzzing to get started!”
Manager Rhys McCabe was pleased to get his first signing of the summer over the line.
“Craig is a young aggressive defender who has racked up a lot of senior football for such a young age.
“He’s been a mainstay at Stranraer and has captained the side, and he’s shown loads of scope to improve and play at a higher level.
“His attitude is spot-on, which is what we’re all about here, so we’re delighted to get him in.”
Look out for an interview with our new signing when pre-season gets underway.
Welcome to the Diamonds, Craig!
