Bruce bonus as wing-back signs
Defender Cammy Bruce has become Airdrie’s seventh signing of the close-season, joining the Diamonds from Queen’s Park after a mutually-agreed arrangement had been negotiated by both clubs.
18-year-old wing-back Bruce spent ten years at Hampden after joining the Spiders at Under-9 level from local side Bargeddie Colts, flourishing as he worked through the age groups and making his professional league debut against Airdrieonians in March 2022.
Swapping Glasgow for North Lanarkshire, the Scottish youth international told airdriefc.com: “When I heard that Airdrie was an option, it was something I wanted to jump at. I know the way they played football last season and the way Rhys wants his players to play - it was something I didn’t want to pass up on.
“We’ll just try to get as high up the table as possible, push for promotion or play-offs - try to win as many games and play good football again.
“Hopefully I’ll chip in with some assists and maybe the odd goal or two!”
And manager Rhys McCabe was pleased to capture Bruce’s signature in the face of interest from top-level sides north and south of the border. He said: “Cammy’s another good young player - I remember him making his debut against us at 16 years old, and I’ve had my eye on him from afar.
“In terms of quality and the scope of where he can go, there’s no ceiling for him. It’s now about aiding his development and getting him more first team experience.
“He’s got bags of potential, and hopefully he’s another who we’ll see a bright future for.”
Welcome to the Diamonds, Cammy!
