Hot prospect Armstrong agrees terms
We are delighted to announce that midfielder Rhys Armstrong has agreed terms with the club and will become an Airdrie player when his Spartans contract expires at the end of the month.
The 22-year-old central midfielder was the subject of interest from several clubs over the summer, and we are pleased that he has chosen the Diamonds as his next destination.
Speaking at the Albert Bartlett Stadium today, Rhys told airdriefc.com: “Hopefully I’ll kick on again, and hopefully the team can push for promotion and go one step further than last year.
“I’m a centre-mid that always wants to get on the ball and make things happen, and hopefully I can add in some goals and assists!
“I saw a lot of Airdrie’s Friday night games last season, and I like the way that they play - the style was a big factor in why I chose to come here.”
Manager Rhys McCabe was pleased to bring his namesake to the club.
“Again, Rhys is a good fit for the model here - a young, hungry professional who has played a lot of games.
“He’s a box-to-box midfielder who likes to get forward, he has real energy to get involved in attacking play, and he scores goals.
“He’s another one who’ll add real quality to the team.”
Welcome to the Diamonds, Rhys!
