Skipper Frizzell pens new deal
Club captain Adam Frizzell has extended his stay with Airdrie after agreeing a new contract with the club.
Midfielder Frizzell was handed the captain’s armband last summer, and performed admirably in the role - leading the Diamonds to a top-four Championship finish and lifting the SPFL Trust Trophy.
As he prepares to begin his second season as captain, and his fourth at the club since joining from Dumbarton in 2021, Frizzell told airdriefc.com: “I’m glad to get it sorted - I enjoyed my holidays and now I’m looking forward to getting back to normal!
“I relished the responsibility of being club captain last year, and was pleased that we could deliver the first trophy in a wee while for the supporters.
“It was a successful season and I really feel we can go and build on that next season. I’m looking forward to meeting some exciting new signings and getting going again!”
Manager Rhys McCabe was pleased to see the 26-year-old lengthen his time at the Excelsior. He said: “We’re delighted, Adam’s a huge player for us.
“His performances last year earned him a place in the team of the year, so to get his signature secured is pleasing.
“From a personal point of view, I’ve worked alongside him for a few years now, and I know what he brings both on the pitch and off it, so I’m delighted.”
Welcome back, Adam!
