Albert Bartlett secure stadium naming rights

Airdrieonians FC and Airdrie-based Albert Bartlett have announced a significant commercial partnership as the relationship between the football club and the UK’s leading producer of fresh, frozen and chilled potatoes is further enhanced.

Under a long-term naming rights agreement, the Excelsior Stadium will be renamed the Albert Bartlett Stadium, building on the longstanding partnership the company has had in supporting the football club, primarily in youth development.

As part of the agreement, Albert Bartlett will continue to support the young population of the town and surrounding areas by working in tandem with the club to distribute tickets to local schools - ensuring that children and their parents from the area can attend Airdrie’s home matches free of charge. Albert Bartlett colleagues and their families will also have the opportunity to attend home matches.

The globally renowned produce company is synonymous with Airdrie, where Albert Bartlett now employs over 750 colleagues as part of their 1,300+ UK wide team. The company traces its roots back to 1948 when founder Albert Bartlett’s entrepreneurial spirit led to him boiling locally-grown beetroot in a tin bathtub in his garden shed in Coatbridge to support his growing family. As the business grew, it moved to new premises in Airdrie in the 1950s.

Alex Bartlett, Albert Bartlett’s CEO, said: “We are proud to call Airdrie our home, it’s a great community and has been so important to the development of our business over the years.

“Airdrieonians is a really important part of that local community and we are delighted to build on our existing partnership with the club which has gained some real momentum and brought great excitement to the town in the last couple of seasons.

“We hope to see that continue and for even more of the local community to enjoy getting along to a game and hopefully cheering the Diamonds on to more success.”

Airdrieonians Managing Director Scott Russell added: “As a club we are delighted to further our relationship with Albert Bartlett with this exciting new partnership.

“Their status as a major company in Airdrie, and their reach and reputation across Scotland and beyond can only be good for Airdrieonians FC.

“As well as boosting the football club in a number of commercial areas, the agreement will also allow local children to come and watch the club when otherwise they might not have had the opportunity, and we’re proud that they’ll be cheering on the Diamonds in the Albert Bartlett Stadium.

“We are extremely grateful to Albert Bartlett for their support and backing, and we are very much looking forward to playing our first match in our newly christened home ground!”
