1924 Scottish Cup podcast

One hundred years ago, Airdrieonians celebrated the greatest achievement in the club’s history as the Diamonds lifted the Scottish Cup trophy.

With a gala dinner planned to commemorate the centenary, “as live” tweets painting a picture of the historic cup run, and a superb range of merchandise available from the club shop, we are now delighted to present the latest feature in our ongoing celebration of that magical day.

Three members of the club’s 1924 planning committee - “Only the Lonely” podcast host Colin Telford, club historian John Henderson, and Airdrie Community Trust trustee Gordon Thomson - sat down at the Excelsior last week, and set about the gargantuan task of examining the cup win in forensic detail.

Over two and a half hours of fascinating discussion, the trio left no stone unturned as they explored everything from the roots of Airdrieonians Football Club to the legacy of the cup-winning squad, with detailed descriptions of all the figures involved and the matches that mattered.

We’re sure you’ll agree that the resultant podcast is a document to be treasured, and we thank Colin, John and Gordon for their tremendous work.

Enjoy!
