Airdrieonians 1924 Tweets

As we prepare to face this weekend’s Scottish Cup tie, fans will be aware that the competition has a significant place in Diamonds history, and this year we celebrate a very special centenary.

100 years ago this week, Airdrieonians were preparing to enter the competition with a first-round tie against Greenock Morton. The match would turn out to be the first step on the road to glory for an Airdrie side packed with talent, skill and determination.

A committee including club directors, staff and historians has been set up to co-ordinate proceedings to mark the 1924 triumph, and we’ll have further announcements regarding some very special events as the centenary edges closer.

In the meantime, a new club Twitter account has been set up to allow fans to relive the cup run as it happened.

‘Airdrieonians 1924 Tweets’ can be followed using the link below, with “as live” match updates coming up for each of the eight matches that led to the club’s greatest achievement. We’ll be sharing the final scores and summaries from the usual club account, but to relive all the action in painstaking detail, please give the new account a follow!
