Justin makes Palace move
We can confirm that midfielder Justin Devenny has today signed for English Premier League side Crystal Palace.
19-year-old Justin initially joined the Diamonds on loan from Kilmarnock in February 2022, featuring sporadically in the second half of the season.
Although appearances were initially limited, incoming boss Rhys McCabe was sufficiently impressed to snap the youngster up when he departed Rugby Park that summer.
Rewarding his new manager’s faith with a goal in each of his first three appearances as a ‘permanent’ Airdrie player, Justin played a key role in the Diamonds’ season as they won promotion to the Championship, going on to make a total of 54 appearances for the club.
Scouts from top clubs north and south of the border flocked to watch Devenny as his development continued on an upward trajectory, and he now moves to Selhurst Park in a deal which is beneficial to all parties involved - becoming the first player to move directly from Airdrie to the English top flight since Sandy Clark’s transfer to West Ham in 1982.
As well as his move to the London giants, Justin was recently introduced to the Northern Ireland international setup, and we are naturally delighted to see his career flourish.
We look forward to seeing what the future holds for him under the expert eye of former England boss Roy Hodgson, and he leaves the Excelsior with our thanks and best wishes.
