Defender Hancock joins the Diamonds
We are delighted to announce the signing of versatile English defender Mason Hancock, who joins the club after leaving Aberdeen.
20-year-old Hancock began his career with eight years at Fulham in his native London, before spending time with Oxford United and Woking. A move to Scotland followed in 2020, when Aberdeen snapped up the promising defender. During his time at Pittodrie, Mason made loan moves to Stirling Albion and Arbroath.
Putting pen to paper in time to join the squad for Saturday’s trip to Dunfermline, Mason told airdriefc.com: “It’s a new challenge, and I’m really looking forward to it.
“I’m a left-sided centre-half and I can also play left-back. I like getting the ball down and playing, but I also feel like I do the ugly side well.
“I’d describe myself as a modern-day centre-half!”
Manager Rhys McCabe added: “Mason is one that we’ve kept tabs on - and tried to keep it as quiet as possible!
“He’s very versatile and has a good pedigree. He’s comfortable on the ball, a very technical left-sided player.
“He’s young and hungry to improve, and we’re delighted to get him in - he’ll be a good addition.”
Welcome to the Diamonds, Mason!
