Squad and club update
Following the successful end to the 2022/23 season and subsequent holidays, we are pleased to provide an update on the playing squad and club operations structure.
Player-manager Rhys McCabe and player-assistant manager Callum Fordyce remain contracted to the club for season 2023/24, along with the following players:
As previously announced, Hibernian players Murray Aiken and Josh O’Connor will join us on loan for the duration of next season.
As always, a number of squad members are moving on now that their contracts have ended, and the following players leave with our thanks for their contributions and our best wishes for the future:
Discussions are ongoing with a number of other players, and updates will be provided in due course.
Meanwhile, there have also been a number of operational changes at the club.
Chairman Martin Ferguson has chosen to step down from the role, but will remain an associate director with the club. We would like to place on record our thanks to Martin for everything he has done for the club, and for the quality of advice he has provided to the board of directors over the course of the last five years.
Paul Hetherington will take up the position of club chairman, while Scott Russell has been appointed managing director of Airdrieonians FC and Excelsior Stadium.
Continuing in their existing roles are Gordon Watson (commercial director), David McArthur and Sam Greene (club directors) and Craig Campbell and Marc Johnstone (associate directors).
Alan Gow will continue as academy director and will also be responsible for developing the reserve team, working hand in hand with Rhys McCabe and Callum Fordyce.
We are also delighted to welcome back former player and director of football Stuart Millar, who returns to the club in a new capacity as an official Airdrieonians Club Ambassador, alongside fellow ex-Diamond Willie McGuire.
An exciting summer lies ahead as we prepare for our return to the Championship, and as always we’ll continue to bring you updates as soon as they are official.
