End of Season Awards
Strikers Calum Gallagher and Gabby McGill swept the board at yesterday’s end-of-season awards presentation, taking home all five trophies between them.
Following the match, supporters stayed behind in their numbers to show their appreciation to the players and staff as the Diamonds gear up for the cinch Championship play-offs.
After introducing the squad, DTV’s Brian Smith began the awards ceremony by announcing the Players Player awards.
The Players Young Player of the Year award, sponsored by Holemasters, was presented to Gabby McGill by Airdrie director Gordon Watson.
The Players Player of the Year award was sponsored by Forte Engineering, and former Airdrie striker Andy Smith presented the trophy to Calum Gallagher.
Next up was the Goal of the Season award, sponsored by Southpaw Design and presented by Diamonds Head of Media Stuart Mathie. Calum Gallagher again took the award, his outstanding solo effort against Kelty Hearts topping the poll.
The main awards were presented by two Club 1924 members selected by ballot.
Ruth Brown, ably assisted by her godson Mason Smith, presented the Young Player of the Year award (sponsored by GD Drilling) to Gabby McGill.
And after a fantastic season which sees him leading the League 1 scoring charts with one game remaining, striker Calum Gallagher lifted the Player of the Year award, sponsored by Airdrie Mechanical Services. The presentation was made by Colin Griffin.
DiamondsTV caught up with Gal and Gabby after the ceremony, and we’re sure everyone will agree that they were worthy winners of the awards.
Well done, guys!
