Gabby extends Diamonds stay

Striker Gabby McGill has signed up for another year at the Excelsior Stadium, and the English forward is looking to kick on after an impressive debut season.

Having joined from Dunfermline Athletic last summer, the Yorkshireman made a strong early impression with goals in four of his first six appearances.

A series of injuries meant a stop-start nature to the rest of McGill’s season, but the 21-year-old still managed a total of seven goals from 18 starts.

Following a return to England to visit family, Gabby has been back training with the squad this week and was pleased to put pen to paper.

“I really enjoyed my time here last year. It was a bit of a bitty season with some injuries and stuff like that, but when I played I’d like to think I did well and I definitely gave everything.

“Overall all I just thoroughly enjoyed last year, so I’m more than happy.”

Player-manager Rhys McCabe was also please with McGill’s decision to stay.

“I’m delighted to have Gabby back. It was a bit of a mismatched season for him with injuries, so hopefully he can build on last season and get a good run of games.”

Welcome back, Gabby!
