Watson signs on again

Defender Craig Watson is the latest player to pledge his future to Airdrie after extending his contract at the club.

Impressing fans with his strength in defence and eagerness to get forward, the 27-year-old made 37 appearances for the Diamonds after joining from East Fife last summer, grabbing one goal with a stunning finish again Montrose in February.

Signing his new deal with the club, Craig told airdriefc.com: “I loved last season both individually and collectively as a part of the team. It was the fresh start I needed and it was easily my most enjoyable season for a long time.

“Of course I was, and still am, absolutely gutted about the play-off final - I’m positive we can build on that as a team and go one further in the coming season.

“The appointment of Rhys and Dycey to gaffer and assistant is an exciting one and I’m personally really looking forward to playing for them. I look forward to seeing the players that will be added to the strong core of a team we already have to help the squad push for the league next year.”
