April Player of the Month award for Gal
Striker Calum Gallagher made it four cinch League 1 Player of the Month awards in a row for Airdrie as the striker’s red-hot scoring form saw him grab the April trophy.
The Diamonds number 9 had a typically strong end to the league season, notching five goals in four matches as Airdrie kept up their amazing unbeaten run and secured second place in the table.
League sponsors cinch recognised Gallagher’s contribution with the award, which comes after Dylan Easton, Rhys McCabe and Callum Smith had taken the titles for January, February and March respectively.
And the award rounded off a fantastic weekend for Gallagher as he made his 100th appearance for the club, scoring late to level the promotion play-off against Montrose which the Diamonds won after extra-time.
Calum told airdriefc.com: “It’s great to receive any individual accolade and I’m really pleased to receive it this year in particular which has been possibly my favourite in football.
"As with everything this year at Airdrie, this award has been achieved with a massive effort from my teammates, manager, and backroom staff, who have given me the platform to perform and score goals.
"I am now hoping to top it off with a play-off trophy and look forward to the week to come!"
