Diamonds land awards double again
It was another Airdrie double at the SPFL monthly awards as Ian Murray picked up his second successive Glen’s Manager of the Month award and Rhys McCabe landed the cinch Player of the Month trophy.
After making February another unbeaten month as the Diamonds kept the cinch League 1 title race alive, Ian and Rhys were pleased to receive more recognition.
Accepting the Glen’s Manager of the Month award just weeks after lifting the January award, Ian said “First of all I’d like to thank the sponsors again - Glen’s and cinch - their backing has been really important over a couple of years in which football has suffered a lot.
“For the team to win another two awards this month is great, it’s shows how hard they’ve worked.
“We took last month’s in our stride, hopefully we’ll take these in our stride as well - to go undefeated for so long in a really hard league is great testament to their character.
“We just want to keep going now, win as many games as we can until the end of the season, and hopefully get our hands on the big prize!”
And Rhys, who chipped in with three assists in February as he controlled matches both from midfield and his newly-adopted defensive role, added: “On a personal note it’s great to get the recognition and pick up the award, so I’m really happy.
“It’s always great to get assists and goals, but the main thing for us with the last part of the season coming up is just to focus on getting as many wins as possible.”
Once again, everyone at the club congratulates Ian and Rhys on their achievement, and we’re sure that sentiment will be echoed throughout the support!
