We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Irish striker Jonathan Afolabi from Celtic.

The 22-year-old frontman joined the Parkhead club from Southampton in 2019, and has enjoyed successful loan spells with Dunfermline Athletic, Dundee and Ayr United, scoring six times across 39 appearances in the Championship.

Having represented the Republic of Ireland at U17, U19 and U21 levels, Jonathan joins Airdrie with an impressive pedigree.

Manager Ian Murray said: “Jonathan is a big physical striker who has gained good experience on loan.

“He’s a left-footed player with great power, and he’ll bring us something different in the forward areas.

Subject to SFA approval, Jonathan will join the squad tomorrow ahead of the cinch League 1 match against Montrose, and we look forward to seeing him in the Diamond.
