Awards double for Diamonds duo
Manager Ian Murray and midfielder Dylan Easton have scooped the January SPFL awards after an unbeaten month in League 1 for the Diamonds.
Three wins and two draws have kept Airdrie on the tails of league leaders Cove Rangers ahead of the meeting between the sides this weekend, and the club’s impressive form has been recognised by the league and their sponsors.
Manager Ian Murray picked up the Glen’s Manager of the Month award, and said: “The award is recognition for the team and the staff, it’s nice to win as it shows we’re improving.
“January was a month where we couldn’t take the foot off the gas at all, and to come through unbeaten shows that the players’ performance levels have been excellent - that goes hand in hand with good results.”
Meanwhile midfield magician Dylan Easton was handed the cinch Player of the Month award after grabbing three goals and three assists since the turn of the year.
The Diamonds number 10 was keen to share the credit.
“I’m delighted with the award. On a personal note, players set goals and this was one that I wanted to tick off.
“But it’s the old cliche - I couldn’t have done it without my teammates. They’re the ones who help me score my goals and create chances, so while it’s me that’s getting the recognition, it’s down to my teammates as well.”
Ian added: “It’s good for the club and the players, particularly Dylan who has done really well, to get recognised and use this as an opportunity to win more and make a push.
“We’d like to thank the sponsors Glen’s and cinch for their really important funding at a difficult time for football.”
We’re sure you’ll agree that both awards are well deserved, and joining us in congratulating Easty and the gaffer!
