Former mentor Liam sponsors Jordan

Former Airdrieonians Head of Youth Liam Brindle has continued his long-term backing of his protégé Jordan Allan by sponsoring the striker’s home shirt for the upcoming season.

Jordan returned to the club for a third spell during the summer - an amazing statistic for a player who is only 22 years of age.

Rising through the club’s academy from the under-10s group, Jordan soon caught the eye with his prolific scoring record. As scouts from around the country flocked to see the youngster in action, Liam’s influence on Jordan’s development saw him consistently play for teams above his age-group.

Jordan hit the headlines on April 27, 2013 when manager Jimmy Boyle, himself heavily involved in the club’s youth system, handed the striker a first-team debut against Livingston, aged just 14.

Jordan’s seven-minute cameo that afternoon saw him enter the record books as the youngest player to feature in a Scottish first-team match - a record which will never be broken thanks to subsequent rule changes.

A move to Wolverhampton Wanderers followed for the young striker with a second spell at Airdrie, on loan from Molineux, coming in 2017. The striker returned to his homeland in 2018, turning out for Cowdenbeath and Forfar Athletic before making his summer move back to the Diamonds.

We’re delighted that his former coach and mentor Liam is still playing an active part in Jordan’s development - indeed, although Liam left the club in 2015, he played a vital role in Jordan’s return to the club in June.

As with all of our player sponsors, this important contribution is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Liam!
