A season like no other

The dust is now settling following a hectic playing schedule which culminated in the disappointment of last night’s play-off final defeat. We congratulate Morton on retaining their place in the Championship.

The board of directors at Airdrieonians would like to thank every player, coach, medical assistant, sports scientist and everyone else who has assisted the club in the most bizarre season of our lifetime. All we ask is that those who represent the Diamond jersey give 100% commitment while at the club, and there can be absolutely no doubt that has been the case this season. In recent weeks the boys have suffered a variety of injuries from concussion to broken bones, and the amount of games the squad faced in such a short time became just too much in the end.

In the coming weeks the board of directors will work tirelessly to ensure that the squad is strengthened and we will be ready to compete at the top of League One again next season.

The players are today gathering at Tommy Turner’s pub (that’s Kyle’s dad, for those of a certain age) to let their hair down after giving so much in recent weeks. The club have left a kitty behind the bar so the boys can have an enjoyable day out on all Airdrie supporters. I'm sure you will join us in thanking them for taking us on the rollercoaster ride with them this season.

Cheers lads.
