Kieran Millar says last weekend’s result wasn’t good enough, and the Diamonds owe the fans a performance against Stranraer.

 

Raith Rovers took the points after a poor 90 minutes at the Penny Cars Stadium, and midfielder Millar admits that Airdrie were well below par.

 

“It was disappointing. We had been playing better in the last few weeks and we were hoping to continue that, but we let ourselves down.

 

“There can’t be any excuses for a performance like that, we only have ourselves to blame and we now have to put that right on Saturday.”

 

The former East Fife man has performed well in previous weeks - but shrugs off any praise, claiming you’re only as good as your last game.

 

“I think I’ve been doing alright, but obviously last week wasn’t good enough.

 

“Everyone will be looking for another chance to prove themselves to the manager and the fans, so I just hope I can stay in the team and do that.”

 

Saturday’s visitors Stranraer have had a rough time in recent weeks, losing their last four matches.

 

The Stair Park club signed former Airdrie players Grant Gallagher and Scott Robertson in the summer, although Gallagher is currently sidelined with an injury.

 

Stevie Farrell’s side may be down on their luck, but Kieran says there’s no chance of the Diamonds showing any signs of complacency.

 

“Our main focus is always to concentrate on our own performance, but we won’t underestimate Stranraer by any stretch of the imagination.

 

“They’ve had a bad couple of games, but we know they’re still a good team with good players - some of them were here last year so we know what we’re up against.”

 

“If we can work hard and perform like we had been before last week, we know we’re capable of getting back to winning ways.”

 

Manager Ian Murray wants the Diamonds to be more ruthless in front of goal.

 

“Stranraer will be well organised as always, so we’ll need to be on our guard - but we need to make sure our own performance is better.

 

“We haven’t been sharp enough and we need to change that starting on Saturday.”

 

David Hutton (calf) and Kyle MacDonald (ankle) both face a spell on the sidelines after picking up injuries against Raith. Goalkeeper Scott Gallacher is also out for the Diamonds.
