Diamonds gear up for an exciting season
June 12, 2019
With our first competitive fixture of season 2019/20 only a month away, the new-look Airdrieonians squad begin their pre-season training schedule this weekend.
Ahead of the big kick-off, director of football Stuart Millar and manager Ian Murray gave their views on the club’s summer business and the upcoming season…
“In the last month or so several key personnel changes have been made both on and off the pitch. These included allowing 15 players to leave the club.
“There were also changes made internally which included the medical department, kit management and scouting department. More details on these will be announced in due course.
“We have totally reconfigured both our first team squad and reserve squad for the season ahead.
“The introduction of the hybrid system has allowed us to have (at present) 15 full-time players, quite a remarkable achievement in such a short period of time.
“The directors of the club look forward to your continued support and can promise our loyal fanbase that as custodians of the club, we aim to deliver the best possible product on the pitch.”

Director of Football
“After a hectic summer period I look forward to commencing pre-season training this coming Saturday.
“Thereafter we will then focus on our friendly matches against Queen of the South, Albion Rovers and Cowdenbeath, in preparation for the Betfred Cup starting on July 13.
“It’s imperative we have this new-look squad focused, determined and prepared for the challenges that lie ahead next season.
“The coaching staff and I are excited about the standard of player we have been able to recruit and, along with the retention of several of last season’s players, we feel we are in a much stronger position than previously.
“The players and I value your support. Together let’s make this a memorable season.”
