Diamonds welcome midfielder Nat
June 10, 2019
We’re pleased to announce our third signing of the day - 27-year-old midfielder Nat Wedderburn, who joins the club from Raith Rovers.
After earning an impressive reputation at Stoke City’s youth academy, Englishman Nat moved to Northampton Town in 2010. A season at Corby Town followed before the midfielder came north to sign for Cowdenbeath.
A successful spell at Central Park earned Nat a move to Inverness Caledonian Thistle before subsequently signing for Dunfermline Athletic, then joining Raith Rovers at the beginning of last season.
Putting pen to paper at the Penny Cars Stadium today, Nat told airdriefc.com: “I was impressed by the ambition shown by the manager and director of football - everyone at the club wants promotion, and I believe I can be a part of that ambition.
“I’ve enjoyed playing in League One, as a physical player I think I’m suited to it - but I also like to get on the ball.
“Ultimately I just want to enjoy my time here - and hopefully help the team win promotion to the Championship.”
And manager Ian Murray said: “I’ve managed teams that have faced Nat many times in the past, and I’ve always felt he was someone I would have liked to bring to the clubs I’ve been at.
“Nat’s played at a good level with full-time clubs, so he’s got a decent pedigree.
“He’ll bring a real presence to the side, and is a very good passer of the ball.”
