Double delight as Dale and Joao extend deals
August 31, 2018
Diamonds boss Stevie Findlay expressed his delight last night as strikers Dale Carrick and Joao Victoria extended their contracts with the club.
The forward pair have both made impressive starts to the campaign, and manager Findlay was pleased to see both players committing until the end of next season.
He told airdriefc.com: "It's a brilliant move for us. As a manager, the fact that good players want to stay at the club is a massive positive.
"Dale was our first signing when we had the opportunity to bring players in in the January window last season, and the fans can see what a team player he is. He's going from strength to strength - he's got the right qualities, the work-rate and the attitude. His professionalism is outstanding, and he's the sort of person that you want to mould a team around.
"I can't tell you how thrilled I am that he wants to stay here - from having the initial conversation it took Dale about five seconds to make a decision and for us to go ahead with it!
"Joao is another excellent piece of business for us. He's shown that he's a real matchwinner - he's exciting and he's another one with a fantastic attitude to the game. We feel that he's coming into his prime, and he loves being at this club. He's said himself that he really feels he's benefitting from the coaching he's getting here, and it's the most enjoyable environment he's played in.
"We want to build a foundation here at the club, and that takes time and a lot of vision and planning - I think having two strikers of Dale and Joao's quality at the club for another year is a big step forward."
