Declan Glass wants victory at Forfar to start a charge to the play-offs for Airdrie.

 

The on-loan Dundee United midfielder has impressed fans with his direct attacking play in recent weeks, and the 18-year-old is loving life at the Penny Cars Stadium.

 

“It’s been good, I’ve really been enjoying playing games at a good level.

 

“I feel like I’ve done well since I’ve come in, but there’s always room for improvement. I think I’m getting better with each game, so hopefully that continues and we start picking up some wins.”

 

Glass picked up the sponsors man-of-the-match award for his performance against Dumbarton last weekend, but a late Sons equaliser denied the Diamonds a win despite taking the lead twice.

 

“I thought we deserved to win - we were unlucky that Dumbarton scored two worldies in fairness.

 

“There’s not much you can do about that, but we probably should have had the game out of sight. That’s down to us - myself included.”

 

Airdrie will certainly need to perform well this weekend as they visit a Forfar Athletic side in good form.

 

Jim Weir’s men are unbeaten in five league games, with last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Raith Rovers preceded by four straight wins.

 

The Angus side currently occupy fourth position - the final coveted playoff spot - in the table.

 

With a six-point gap between them and Airdrie, both teams will be gunning for a vital win. Declan thinks a victory could be the start of a season-defining run for the Diamonds.

 

“I don’t think it’s a must-win, but all the boys know we need to take something from the game. I feel that Forfar are catchable, and I feel like we just need one win to set us off on another run.

 

“There are no easy games in this league, or any points that are going to be handed to you. 

 

“Obviously in recent weeks we’ve played Stenhousemuir and Dumbarton and they were both tough games, so we’re expecting the same up at Forfar, but we’re confident we can get the three points.”

 

Manager Ian Murray knows a win would be a massive boost to his side’s play-off ambition.

 

“There’s a long way to go with twists and turns all over the place, but if we win it puts us closer.

 

“It’s a tough, tough game because Forfar are a really good team and they’re on a great run, but we go there without trepidation to try and win the game.

 

“If we do that, we’re right back in amongst it.”

 

Goalkeeper Scott Gallacher is the only injury concern in the Diamonds camp ahead of the trip.

 

Referee Graham Beaton’s only other Airdrie game this season was also at Station Park. The Diamonds came from behind to win 3-1 on the opening day of the League One season.
