We were saddened to receive the news that former Airdrie striker Billy McPheat passed away this morning after a long battle with Alzheimers.

Inside forward Billy made his name down south with Sunderland, and joined Airdrie in 1966 after a spell at Hartlepool.

​

Scoring 34 times in 161 top-flight appearances for the Diamonds, Billy will be remembered for his fearsome partnership with Davie Marshall.
