Keeper Kelby joins from Hearts

November 16, 2017

Hearts Under 20s goalkeeper Kelby Mason has joined the club on an emergency loan deal ahead of this weekend's Scottish Cup tie.

The Diamonds faced further problems in the goalkeeping department this week with Kyle Gourlay unavailable, Rohan Ferguson sidelined with a back injury, and Matthew Kerr only making his comeback for the Development squad on Monday.

With Saturday's third-round tie against Cove Rangers fast approaching, the coaching staff moved quickly to arrange further cover for the number 1 shirt.

Highly rated youngster Mason is a product of the Hearts youth system, having signed up at Tynecastle as an 11-year-old in 2009. The big keeper spent time on loan at junior side Bonnyrigg Rose last season.

First team coach Stephen Findlay told airdriefc.com: "We watched Kelby on Tuesday night and he was excellent. He's a confident big lad and we're sure he'll take the chance to come in here and impress."
