Youth Academy management team appointed

May 9, 2018

The restructuring of the Airdrieonians Academy system continues with the appointment of Scott Black as Academy Manager and Chris Ferguson as Assistant Academy Manager.

Director Gavin Spiers has been overseeing the restructuring process. He told airdriefc.com: "Since getting back involved with the club in January, both Stevie Findlay and I, along with the Youth Board, have been working hard to create a strategy and vision for our Youth Academy. We now believe we have a clear vision of what we want to achieve and see this as a fundamental part of the club’s future.

"We have met with all coaches as well as parents and players over the last month to ensure they are clear on what our strategy is and how they play a critical part in the success of the Academy.

"We have made some initial improvements including training and games being moved back to the stadium, a permanent physio assigned to the Academy teams as well as a kit plan to ensure all teams have the right kit in place for starting next season.

"One of the areas we were keen to address was appointing a management team responsible for the day to day running of the Academy, ensuring that we are being true to our vision and plans as well as driving improvements at the Academy. I am delighted to announce that Scott Black has been appointed as Academy Manager and Chris Ferguson as Assistant Academy Manager.

"Scott is a well-known face at the club having been a coach at the Academy for the last six years. Chris has been with the club as a coach at the Academy for the last two years and is also the club Child Protection and Wellbeing Officer.

"Please join me in wishing both Scott and Chris all the best in their new roles!"
