2020 vision for Dean, Josh and Cammy

February 9, 2018

The club's preparations for the future continued last night as three young squad members extended their contracts to May 2020.

Dean Cairns, Josh Edwards and Cammy Russell have all committed their immediate futures to Airdrie as manager Stevie Findlay continues to shape his squad.

The delighted Diamonds boss said: "In Dean, Josh and Cammy I believe we have three players who will make a huge impact at the club over the next few years, and I'm pleased to be able to extend their deals.

"This gives these young lads the chance to focus on their development at a club who will give them every opportunity to realise their potential."

Defenders Cairns (20) and Edwards (17) and striker Russell (19) have all featured regularly in the first team this season after progressing through the club's Academy and Development squads, and all three have impressed fans and pundits alike with their performances while also being lauded by the club's backroom staff for their commitment and work ethic.

Findlay added: "My overall vision and long term ambition for the club includes growing the pipeline of our own talent, having our own homegrown players who have an emotional connection to the club and to our supporters.

"Dean, Josh and Cammy very much fit that bill in every respect.

"This club has an excellent record in producing talent, and I'm delighted that the board have backed my vision to continue and reinforce that legacy and to generate a new batch of exciting young prospects who will be proud to wear that Diamond on their chest."
