Defensive duo return to the Diamonds

May 3, 2018

Airdrie's reshaping for next season continued tonight as defenders Chris O'Neil and Sean Crighton agreed terms with the club.

Centre-back Sean (28) and full-back Chris (22) join from Brechin City, although both are familiar to the Diamonds faithful having spent time at the club previously.

The pair joined manager Stevie Findlay, assistant Marc Fitzpatrick and first team coach David Proctor in the Excelsior boardroom to put pen to paper on their new contracts, and both are excited at their return to the club.

Sean said: "I'm very happy to be back, I'm really looking forward to the season ahead. As soon as the manager got in contact, I jumped at the chance to come back - I've always said this was a club I'd be delighted to return to, and I'm glad to now get that chance."

Chris, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Airdrie, added: "There was never any doubt in my mind, I really enjoyed being back here on loan and I'm buzzing to be an Airdrie player again."

Manager Stevie Findlay was pleased to get his summer business started.

"I'm delighted with these captures. Chris loves this club, and he wears his heart on his sleeve. He's a winner, and he's the sort of defender that you want in your side.

"I'm delighted to get Sean here, from the moment I spoke to him he made the deal really easy - he's bought into what we want to do at the club and how we want to operate. I know there were other clubs that wanted his signature, but he never wavered and that's testament to how much he wants to be here."
