Joe Gorman is ready for revenge when Airdrie visit Stenhousemuir on Saturday.

The Diamonds went into the last meeting with the Larbert side flying high as a six-match winning running propelled them to second place in the League One table.

​

However, it was bottom-of-the-table Stenny who won on that occasion, bagging a 5-0 victory to add insult to injury.

​

The New Broomfield men have suffered from stuttering form since that result, but defender Gorman says that the last-minute equaliser in their last outing against East Fife may be the confidence boost he and his team-mates need.

​

"For the majority of the East Fife game we were on top, we had so many chances to score the second before they went in front.

​

"Luckily we got the equaliser, and I thought we showed a lot of character to come back and get the draw."

​

With Scottish Cup fixtures taking over the calendar last week, Airdrie had a rare weekend off. Irishman Gorman thinks it was exactly what was needed.

​

"A little break refreshes you and gets you going again. I went home to visit family and came back raring to go and we're all the same, hoping we can kick on and go on another run."

​

With the league fixtures resuming this weekend, the Diamonds make the short journey to Ochilview hoping to turn around their fortunes - but also to make up for the 5-0 defeat back in December.

​

 

Gorman is determined it won't be repeated.

​

"There's no doubt about it, we shouldn't be getting a result like that - but then again you see it every other week on Gillette Soccer Saturday, a team at the bottom of the table beating a team at the top. It does happen.

​

"It's one that sticks in our mind though, and come Saturday afternoon we'll make sure we're on top of it."

 

The Diamonds defence will see some enforced changes, with Daniel Boateng and Kieran MacDonald both suspended for the trip, but Joe is prepared to do whatever is required of him.

 

"Wherever I play I'll obviously give my all for the team. We're going to have suspensions, injuries and illnesses, it's part of the game - but whatever team we put on the park we should have enough quality to go out and win games."

 

Head coach Mark Wilson is also keen to banish the memory of the last meeting with Brown Ferguson's side.

 

"It's one we don't remember fondly if I'm honest. We were on such a good run and we certainly didn't see that result coming.

 

"Although we put it out of our minds at the time, we're well aware of what a tough game this will be and it would be nice to go there and get a comfortable victory."

 

Craig Napier is the referee for Saturday's match. His only other Airdrie game this season was the 1-0 home win over Brechin City in November.
