Alan makes Whitecaps Connection
24th April 2017
Academy goalkeeping coach Alan Leslie paid a visit to Vancouver Whitecaps on a recent trip to Canada - and ended up exchanging gifts with club president Bob Lenarduzzi.
On a family trip to visit his student daughter in British Columbia, Alan had taken an Airdrieonians pennant along to the Whitecaps' Friday night game with the intention of handing it over as a football gift.
The coach, who works with the club's goalkeepers at all academy levels, was invited to the MLS club's downtown headquarters the following week, where he met with the club president.
Mr Lenarduzzi, who played for the Whitecaps in the NASL alongside scotsman Willie Johnston, managed both the Canadian National and Olympic teams before taking up the top post at the Vancouver club.
He was only too pleased to receive the Diamonds souvenir, and handed over a reciprocal gift for the club.
