Kieran MacDonald says the Diamonds can prove their title credentials by beating Alloa tomorrow.

The Wasps visit New Broomfield looking to turn the tables on Airdrie, who won the first meeting of the season 2-1.

 

And defender MacDonald says the Diamonds players are on a high as they enjoy a winning streak.

 

"We've won the last four, so the boys are all confident ahead of the game.

 

"I don't see why we shouldn't win, we've already beaten them away from home so I think we've got a very good chance".

 

Both sides have undergone managerial changes since that meeting at the beginning of October, with Jim Goodwin taking the reins at the Indodrill Stadium following the departure of Jack Ross, who joined St.Mirren.

 

Results have been mixed for the Clackmannanshire side since then, but their blistering start to the league campaign was always going to be a hard act to follow.

 

It's been a successful start for new Diamonds Head Coach Mark Wilson, who has won both of his games since taking over from Kevin McBride.

 

MacDonald says life is good under the new gaffer.

 

"Everything's brilliant. Everybody's working hard - but we always have, so not much has changed in that respect."

The Wasps may be coming to Monklands with revenge in mind after goals from Andy Ryan and Ryan Conroy gave Airdrie the win last time out.

 

MacDonald feels the Athletic players will be more interested in getting their own results back on track than on seeking retribution.

 

"They've only won one of their last four league games, so they'll be wanting to be at their best and to get the win. We'll need to be on top of our game to deal with that."

 

A win would see the Diamonds move into at least third place in the League One table. Kieran thinks it would be a huge result.

 

"Of course, we want to win every game. We need to beat the teams that are above us - if we do that it proves that we're capable of winning the league.

 

"It's maybe not a must-win at this stage, but three points would be massive. With the form we're in, we should be confident that we can win."

 

Head Coach Mark Wilson - who was pleased to report a clean bill of health for his squad - agrees on the importance of the outcome.

 

"We’ve got to look at this as an opportunity to leapfrog them in the league and really start our push to catch the teams ahead of us."
