Andy Ryan wants to top off a great week by helping Airdrie to a play-off place when they meet Queen's Park on Saturday.

The in-form striker bagged his first senior hat-trick in the 4-0 win at East Fife last weekend, and the milestone was quickly followed by a place in the SPFL Team of the Week and the fan vote for Airdrie's Player of the Month on social media.

Now the Diamonds require a single point to secure a top four finish ahead of the visit of Gus McPherson's men.

​

Top scorer Ryan was pleased with the recognition after his impressive showing at Bayview - which also puts him one goal away from the top of the League One scoring charts.

​

"It's been a good week. The result at East Fife tops it all though - we went there knowing that it was in our own hands, and we did the job convincingly.

​

"Stuff like being top goalscorer is an added bonus, if you like. Getting to the play-offs is the priority first and foremost, but if other things come around, so be it!"

​

Queen's Park come to New Broomfield still with an outside chance of making the top four themselves, although they require a major swing in their goal difference as well as the three points.

​

Goals haven't been in short supply when the sides have met this season. The Betfred Cup meeting in July produced a 3-3 draw, swiftly followed by a 3-1 Airdrie win in their league opener at Hampden.

​

 

The Spiders first visit to Airdrie saw a 4-1 win for the home side, with Iain Russell bagging a hat-trick from the penalty spot, then in January the Hampden side were victorious with a 2-1 win at the National Stadium.

Ryan expects a difficult game with so much at stake.

​

"It'll be a tough one. Queen's Park are still in the running for a play-off spot too, so it won't be an easy game.

 

"If we play the way we played on Saturday - the way we know we can play - hopefully we can get the job done."

 

With goals and awards mounting up, Andy is as confident as you might expect ahead of the big game.

 

"I'm always confident. Going into every game you have to be confident you can win, and Saturday's just another game of football - only this time the three points will secure us a play in the play-offs!"

 

Diamonds Head Coach Mark Wilson says that a win is the only objective, even though a draw would be enough to ensure a top-four finish.

 

"We won't be thinking like that, because it's dangerous. Anything can happen in the last minutes of games, so we're going in with a positive mentality and trying to get the game won as quickly as possible."
