Liam Watt says he and his team-mates are angry at Saturday's late collapse, but the Diamonds have an early opportunity to make up for it against Stenhousemuir.

Despite losing goalkeeper Neil Parry to an early red card on Saturday, Airdrie stormed into a 3-1 lead against their in-form visitors, only to see Jim McInally's side stage a dramatic turnaround to nick all three points.

The Club have appealed to have Parry's dismissal rescinded, and hope to have their case considered on Tuesday morning.

​

Watt, who scored the Diamonds' second goal in the staggering Boxing Day tie, said: "Everyone was disappointed and angry with ourselves.

​

"We played very well for 80-odd minutes."

​

The match was Eddie Wolecki Black's first in charge of Airdrie, and there were plenty of positives to be seen before Parry's sending-off saw the gameplan change.

​

Watt is impressed with his new gaffer.

​

"He's come in and worked a lot on shape, trying to help us shut out the opposition and exploit their weaknesses.

​

"We're also doing a lot of work on counter-attacking."

​

With emotions running high following a controversial defeat, it would be understandable for the squad to see Tuesday night's rearranged fixture as a chance to make amends.

​

21-year-old midfielder Liam is taking a professional approach as he concentrates on the overall picture.

​

"We will treat Stenhousemuir like any other game. Of course we want three points to stay in the race for the play-offs.

​

"It's a tight league in the middle section, there are lots of teams close together on points.

​

"Everyone at the Club believes we can finish in the top four."

​

Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black was encouraged by what he saw and says there are unlikely to be big changes.

​

Explaining Jim Lister's absence from Saturday's matchday squad, Eddie said: "After discussions with the player and the medical staff, we felt he had maybe come back too soon.

 

"Aside from the long lay-off, Jim hasn't had a pre-season so we'll continue to work on his fitness."

​

Stenhousemuir also endured a torrid 90 minutes on Saturday, going down 5-1 to struggling Stranraer, and an injury to talismanic striker Jason Scotland has further added to the Warriors woes.

​

Mike Roncone takes charge of his third Airdrie game this season, having refereed the League Cup tie at Stirling Albion and the Diamonds' 3-1 win over Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill.
