Iain Russell joins the Diamonds

23rd May 2016

We are delighted to announce that experienced forward Iain Russell has agreed terms on a two-year deal with the Club.

Russell, the grandson of Airdrie legend and Honorary President Ian McMillan, checked in to the club's Ravenscraig training base on Saturday and was eager to express his delight at becoming an Airdrieonian.

The 33-year-old striker told airdriefc.com: "I'm absolutely buzzing.

"I can't believe it's finally happened - and I can't wait to pull the Diamond over my head for real."

First-team coaches Kevin McBride and Donald Jennow were pleased to welcome Iain to the club after some hard work behind the scenes.

And now the former Morton, Livingston and Queen of the South player can look forward to his first training session on June 9.

With 150 goals in 306 starts over a fourteen-year career, Diamonds fans will be equally eager to see him pull on the jersey.
