Jordan joins on loan

23rd February 2016

Airdrieonians FC are delighted to announce the loan signing of Rangers midfielder Jordan Thompson.

The 19-year-old Northern Irish playmaker - who has played twice for the Gers’ top team this season - will train with his new team-mates tomorrow night (Wednesday) as he bids for a debut in Saturday’s crunch League One clash with Ayr United.

Jordan joins on an initial 28-day loan and his capture was welcomed by Diamonds Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black who told airdriefc.com: “Jordan is a clever footballer and a player who will enhance us.

“He can both keep the ball and play penetrating passes and he will be a great addition to the squad.

“We have watched him four times now and we know we have a player who can affect the game in the final third of the pitch.”

Jordan is highly-rated at Murray Park after featuring twice off the bench in this campaign under boss Mark Warburton.

And Chief Executive Iain King stressed: “We started the January window intent on trimming what was a 26-man squad.

“We have done that and were content with the squad we had but the chairman had always promised that if genuine quality became available there would be leeway.

“Jordan is a quality player with tremendous potential and we hope he starts his journey to realising that at Airdrieonians.”
